Three hotels located in Grand-Bassam, near Abidjan were attacked in early afternoon, this Sunday, March 13, 2016, by armed men.
the Ivorian defence and security forces intervened immediately and were able to neutralize six (6) terrorists.
Gunmen opened fire Sunday in the attack on the seaside resort of Grand-Bassam (Ivory Coast) to the East of Abidjan, 14 civilians and two soldiers were killed, announced the Ivorian president Alassane Ouattara.
'The balance sheet is heavy, the terrorists managed to kill 14 civilians and we lost two members of special forces', said president Ouattara who travelled to the scene, adding that six assaillents were also killed.
Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) has claimed responsibility for the attack.
